Chestnut Oak, Cherry
This separated block of Chestnut Oak from the mountains of Georgia shares both the story and integrity of a budded, later broken and healed over limb, simultaneously uncovering and preserving the history of growth and healing. Bookmatched by nature of this cloven separation, we see hourglass curves as lighter sapwood and darker heartwood play across the widths of wood.
The sculpture is mounted to the artist-made Cherry frame and set off against a background of deep, matte black paint. To date, seven Things have been created by Michael (Moran Woodworked Furniture)
